Peyton Smith

My name is Peyton, but everyone knows me as PK, and I am a blueliner and penalty killer for the Arizona Kachinas. Kachinas core values of team first mentality and relentless work ethic on and off the ice have forged in me a gritty and resilient attitude when battling opposing teams. As a defensive defenseman with high hockey IQ, I excel at my positioning and communication to deny my opponent inside lanes maintaining strong gap control, angling attackers towards the boards, and timely poke checks to regain possession. I am strong at clearing the crease and have a disciplined awareness to disrupt opponent scoring by blocking shots and lifting sticks to deny rebounds. My greatest strength is the ability to beat the first forechecker in the D-zone, look up ice, and hit the forward with an accurate pass. I have a heavy, accurate shot from the blue line to produce rebounds for my forwards. I make every effort in the offseason to work on my stick handling and agility to improve my offensive presence.
